Umpires

Next Umpires Meeting

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday 23nd February, 2012 at 7:00pm. The venue will be The Mornington Community Information Centre, corner of Main and Elizabeth Streets, Mornington. Any volunteers who have made themselves available to umpire junior finals should attend this meeting, as we will be going through the junior rules.

Accreditation

All members should be aware that the MPCA Board has ruled that all umpires must become accredited at Level 2. Existing umpires must undertake accreditation this season and new umpires must undertake it by the end of their second season. To apply for the accreditation kit, you need to send an application form to Cricket Victoria with $70. The MPCA will refund the $70 to you on presentation of a copy of your accreditation card. Application forms are available from Graeme. He also has forms for re-accreditation for those umpires whose accreditation has expired, or is about to. There is no fee involved. Accreditation workshops will commence on Tuesday evenings at 7pm, once those seeking accreditation have their kits. Venue will be the Information Centre.

Do you want to become an umpire?

Anyone interested in becoming an umpire in the MPCA should contact the Director of Umpiring, Graeme Robinson on 5975 5542 or 0418 534 735. Training sessions will be arranged for anyone who has not previously umpired.

Working with Children Check

All umpires are now required to have a Working With Children Check done. Application forms are available from Post Offices. You will need to supply a passport style photograph. Make sure that you indicate that you are a Volunteer, as there will then be no charge. You also need to list the MPCA as the body that you will be working with. When your form is lodged, you will be given a form acknowledging receipt of your application. This covers you until your card arrives in about four to five weeks. Our secretary needs to know the number on your receipt for our database. Remember that you cannot be appointed to games unless you do this.
